Horsepower and Torque Boost: The New V8 Bi-Turbo

Hamann has extracted an extra 60PS and 100Nm torque from the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8, now developing 700PS and 900Nm top figures. This means that 0-100km/h acceleration comes in at 3.4 seconds, two-tenths faster than the standard model. The immense force delivered by the tuned engine is kept throttle-response-friendly across the rev range due to the enhanced motor electronics.

On public roads, the standard X5 M Competition is exceptionally quick; thus, it is unclear whether the Hamann enhancements are needed. But for unlimited Autobahn blasts, the extra punch should result in even more mind-bending velocity while maintaining silky eight-cylinder smoothness.

Consumption and Emissions

Newspapers do not provide specific information about official consumption and emissions figures after Hamann’s modifications. But you’ll be a tad thirstier and pump out more CO2 than the stock model’s EU combined rating of 13.3 l/100km and 304 g/km.

Daily mileage is affected by the style in which the vehicle is used. In light of my exposure to high-powered SUVs, tender cruising yields acceptable fuel efficiency, however, hard acceleration is remarkably inefficient. Nonetheless, the melodious V8 roar more than makes up for the journey!

Pricing

In Germany, Hamann’s tuning program for the X5 M Competition begins at €48,000 (US$51,400) including taxes but excluding the base vehicle. Additional choices for interior customization and individualized wheels can increase the cost by €10,000 (US$10,700).

Considering the number of enhancements in terms of appearance, interiors, and ride and handling, I consider Hamann’s pricing quite appropriate. The upgrades especially within the interior space significantly increase the luxury experiential value. Think of it as a €60k life changing operation of turning a mere people mover into a luxury sports car.

In conclusion, the F95 X5 M Competition from Hamann is a great example of how to add more performance and styling without losing traditional usefulness or build quality. It adds personalized opulence to what is already a thrilling proposition in the performance SUV space for BMW.

Even if we were used to seeing plenty of BMW products receiving the plethora of power upgrades, Hamann`s latest project to be well-received at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, involves the outstanding F-Pace SUV from Jaguar.

As usual, when Hamann takes control, it usually involves a complete package, with modifications both outside as well as inside. And this Jaguar F-Pace seen here is no exception.

The program starts at the exterior, the Jaguar F-Pace SUV being admired in Geneva with a wide body kit, consisting of bespoke front spoiler with side skirts, fender flares and rear diffuser insert, adding as well four tailpipes for the sports exhaust system which increase`s the engine`s wild roar.

The overall design is complemented with the 22- and 23-inch Anniversary Evo II alloy wheels, finished in Hyper Silver and Graphite Gray, while the interior is also highlighted by the new pedal set, foot mats and special footrest.

Hamann`s preferred part is underneath a car`s skin, and this Jaguar F-Pace also sounds almighty with the new power kits available. We are looking here at custom free-flow exhausts and power chips. Both the F-Pace S petrol and the F-Pace 30d diesel are impressive with the new power.

The F-Pace S petrol burner is now churning out 410 horsepower and 510 Nm of torque, quite outstanding from the standard 380 horsepower and 460 Nm of torque; on the other hand, the F-Pace 30d diesel is also delivering a total of 340 horsepower and 780 Nm of torque, from the standard 300 horsepower and 780 Nm of torque.

Hamann is well-known for adding smashing tuning projects for lots of other sports cars from BMW, Audi or Porsche, but from time to time, it finds time to come up with different programs for older-generation supercars, like this one seen here.

Hamann is also known for delivering customized body parts for other tuning companies and recently, DS Auto tuner has provided the necessary Hamann body parts for the below Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe.

This is not the first time we get to see the splendid Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe in action, the model looking exquisite with the new Hamann kit, adding as well DS Auto`s own styling bits.

This customized GLE Coupe is standing out from the crowd with the exquisite white body wrap, adding as well Hamann`s new chin spoiler and bespoke new grille, along with custom side skirts, rear bumper with the new diffuser insert and tailpipes. Also, the rear end is housing the tailgate with a tall wing, which improves the car`s aerodynamics and styling.

As for the powertrain under the hood, the tuner has not yet announced any mods for this particular model.
As a reminder, the GLE 350d, comes with 333 horsepower, all squeezed from a 3.0-liter turbo diesel V6 engine, while the GLE 450 AMG Coupe packs 367 horsepower. The top of the line GLE 63 AMG S Coupe comes with a 5.5-liter unit and impressive 585 horsepower.

This comes after the engineers have exposed a finished product revealing their high-performance rear muffler, which adds a more aggressive growl soundtrack and increase performance under the hood.

This time, the model seen here is standing out from the crowd with an outstanding carbon fiber aero kit, which goes hand in hand with the power boost under the hood.

The Hamann`s carbon fiber kit consists of new front and rear spoilers, extended side skirts, wider wingtips for the front of the rear wheel arches, adding as well the high-performance sports exhaust system with stainless steel pipes, coming with silver or black anodized finishes.

The overall design is complemented with the new set of wheels, which increases the car`s menacing look and adds greater stance.

As aforementioned, this fine M2 Coupe has also received an in-house power kit, which makes it even more powerful. We are looking here at the stock 3.0-liter M TwinPower Turbo inline six-cylinder engine, with 370 horsepower and 465 Nm of torque.

With the tuner`s kit which includes an ECU remapping, new mufflers and modified turbos, this BMW model is now capable of 50 horsepower and 65 Nm of torque more than the stock version, for a total of 420 horsepower and 530 Nm of torque. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is done in 4.2 seconds, which brings it visibly closer to an M3 or M4.

It is not every time we get to see an Evoque Cabrio receiving a wide body kit, but it seems that Hamann has done that…it`s a kind of been there, done that situation!

The Range Rover Evoque Cabrio stands out with a lot engaging features, such as the massive front chin spoiler with bespoke air grilles and air intakes, prominent side sills and rear skirt. The rear end is also highlighted by the Hamann sports exhaust system with a choice of black or silver tailpipes.

Also depicting from the impressive media gallery below, the custom-built Evoque Cabrio features an increase ride height of 70 mm and 80 mm front and rear, respectively, and that to cope with the new side sills. Overall, the model looks smashing and aggressive, especially with the huge fenders to fit the new Hamann wide alloy wheels.

In the engine department, the Hamann project also comes with some improvements as well. We are looking here at the same 2.0-liter TF4 engine, with 181 horsepower instead of standard 150 horsepower. A second power stage raises the car`s power to 210 horsepower. On the other hand, the Si4 version can be tweaked with 260 horsepower instead of 240 horsepower, with the torque going all-the-way to 395 Nm of torque from 240 Nm of torque.

And we have seen what Hamann tuner can do an a BMW M6, X6 M or the now “common” BMW M3 or BMW M4. However, from time to time, the technicians also turn their attention to other hot rides, like this gorgeous Mercedes GLE Coupe, for instance.

The tuner have added some special ingredients to the car`s body styling as well as some engine improvements.

As we can depict from the pictures below, the already powerful SUV is standing from the crowd with a more aggressive look, thanks to the aero parts, including the custom front and rear spoilers, side skirts, tailgate wing, sill extensions and fender, adding the carbon fiber grille or bonnet.

Let`s not forget as well the one-off set of new 22-inch Challenge alloy wheels, which provide the model with a unique look and increased aggressiveness.

But the real deal is found under the hood, the model now coming with a new power kit, highlighted by the new exhaust system and an ECU remapping, which raises the SUV`s power from the standard 585 horsepower and 760 Nm of torque to a massive 680 horsepower and 900 Nm of torque.

DS Automobile have taken the Range Rover Evoque and chopped-it off, the model wearing the signature of the same Hamann tuner. And when I first saw the model, I thought it was just a rendering. But it does exist without a roof, and it looks quite sensational.

The Hamann kit comes with a lot of cool elements, like front and rear flared wheel arches, custom side sills, white color front chin spoiler and rear diffuser, all contrasting the boot lid spoiler and the one-off Evo Anniversary alloy wheels, finished in gloss black.

The overall design is mind-blowing and we wouldn’t be surprised if the British carmaker would try building up an Evoque Cabrio in the near future; it would definitely by a real hit amongst young drivers.

There are no mods carried out under the hood, this Range Rover Evoque Cabrio packing the 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol burner, developing a good 200 horsepower and 280 Nm of torque.

The stock Evoque also features a higher version, with 240 horsepower and 340 Nm of torque, adding the diesel 2.0-liter, with 163 horsepower and 380 Nm of torque, or more potent 180 horsepower and 430 Nm of torque variant.
